Österreichische Rassen
Pigeons belong to a very species-rich family among the birds. Scientifically, they are counted to the order of pigeons (Columbiformes). Their physique is quite uniform, and they have a relatively small head, the characteristic back and forth rock when walking. Pigeons have a peaceful, gentle nature and symbolize peace and love in Christianity as well as the Holy Spirit. Contrary to popular belief, city pigeons are not wild animals but feral domestic pigeons that were formerly used as carrier pigeons, for example. Over time, however, they were not used as intensively as they were at the beginning and as a result were unfortunately abandoned.
