The Flanders smerle – Vlaanderse Smierel used to be very close in size and weight to the Antwerp Smerel. Before 1900, this pigeon was even regarded as a lower race of the Antwerp, but with a pointed hood. Flanders Smerls are calm but cheerful fancy pigeons that make very few demands on their care, nutrition and housing.
