The English Magpie pigeons – also known by the names: Pie Anglais, Englischer Elstertümmler, Capitombolante Pica Inglese, Английская сорока , Martham – are varieties originally from Britain. The original Magpie pigeon was one of the old Tumbler pigeon varieties, coming via Germany from Denmark about 1900.

Through various crosses, among others with Scandaroon and Homer, but failed. Then last crossed with the Bagdad pigeons race, in 1910, then the results obtained in the form as now. It is called the ‘Queen of the Pigeons‘ in England. The breed can be very easily spotted in England and in most parts of America. It was actually part of the Tumbler pigeons, although it is mainly kept as an exhibition breed in the United Kingdom.
