The Berne Halfbeak – also known by names: Demi Bec bernois , Berner Halbschnäbler, Mezzo Becco Bernese, Бернский среднеклювый голубь – is a Swiss-derived variety, and is declared “Swiss Big One”, as the largest varieties. This variety is an ancient race brought from Turkey to Switzerland, and developed in Bern, in the 1800s, when it was still known as “Turkey Forge”. In subsequent developments, the varieties categorized into this type swiss colour pigeons are finally reaching the present look model.
