Ascolano ornamental pigeons – generally only known as that – is an old Italian race dove, mainly maintained in the Marches, or also in places such as Campania and Emilia (all in Italy). This dove has been recorded for the first time since 1768, and is grouped into the Form pigeons type. Some fanciers estimate that this variety comes from Romania. It was even declared extinct in the early 900s, but was later rescued by several farmers who were members of the Piceni Breeding Association.
